National Nurses Week
National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. These permanent dates enhance planning and position National Nurses Week as an established recognition event. As of 1998, May 8 was designated as National Student Nurses Day, to be celebrated annually. And as of 2003, National School Nurse Day is celebrated on the Wednesday within National Nurses Week (May 6-12) each year.
Here is the last of our tributes for National Nurses Week. Those stories shared by nurses have been inspirational, emotional, and life affirming. These individuals are exactly where they want to be and should be. Thank you to them and all nurses who deserve our respect and kindness every day.
We are happy to share Megan Peters, RN, Office RN Clinical Leader at Mountain Valley Health Center in Londonderry VT story…
“I started in healthcare while taking care of my grandmother. She founded a free LNA training program at Grace Cottage and talked me into taking it. After that, I knew I wanted to learn how to help take care of people. I enjoy helping all our patients here at Springfield Medical Care Systems, Inc. and I continue to learn every day so that I can be someone people in my community trust to help them stay safe and healthy.”
