CSHIP interns Zoe Barton
The great work of our CSHIP interns continue. Zoe Barton, a 2023 graduate of the University of Vermont with a degree in Biochemistry, is finishing up her CSHIP internship with the Public Health Council of the Upper Valley of Vermont Department of Health – WRJ. Zoe’s project involved creating a survey tool targeting dental health providers in the Upper Valley Region of Vermont. Its purpose is to identify the barriers they face when providing oral health care; capacity, accessibility, affordability.
Here is how Zoe described her CSHIP experience. ” The entire experience was amazing. I did the research, interviewed the dentists, designed the survey, and compiled the report. I learned about collaboration, communication, problem solving, and most of all, working in concert with my fellow team members.”
CSHIP, one of Southern Vermont AHEC’s signature programs, matches college students interested in health careers with organizations focused on improving rural health outcomes.
